MARIE Curie Cancer Care has been chosen by the Irish Football Association as their official charity partner for 2012.
Announcing the partnership, the Irish FA’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Geoff Wilson said: “The Association has been heavily involved in community and charity work for a number of years now and we are delighted to announce Marie Curie Cancer Care as this year’s charity partner.
“Through the partnership, the charity will have the opportunity to make the public more aware of their work; carry out collections at all Northern Ireland home international games and organise other fundraising and PR initiatives.
“We are really looking forward to working with Marie Curie Cancer Care during 2012 and we hope all Northern Ireland supporters and supporters clubs will get behind this fantastic charity.”
Marie Curie Cancer Care cares for people with terminal cancer and other life limiting illnesses in their own homes across Northern Ireland and in the Marie Curie Cancer Care hospice in Belfast.
Marie Curie nurses provide free care for patients at home, giving people the choice to be nursed in their own homes, with their loved ones.
Anne Hannan, Corporate Development Manager for Marie Curie in Northern Ireland said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as the IFA’s charity partner for 2012 and we look forward to a year of fun events which will raise much needed funds for the charity and help us reach our goal of providing more care to more patients when they need it. We hope everyone involved in Northern Irish football will support us in the year ahead.”
