Kernan Playing Fields in Craigavon was the venue recently for a tournament with an International flavour.
Kernan Playing Fields in Craigavon was the venue recently for a tournament with an International flavour. The Craigavon Intercultural Partnership hosted the event over two weekends with support from Glenavon FC Community Relations Officer, Eddie Drury.
The tournament attracted participants from Portugal, Poland, Brazil, Bulgaria and East Timor, and was hailed as a huge success. After several exciting games, Poland and Brazil made it through the final and certainly didn’t let anyone down with both teams playing out a seven goal thriller. At the full-time whistle it was the Brazilians who came out on top, winning the game 4-3.
Special thanks must go to local referees Jonathon Drury, Jamie Robinson and Peter Serpliss who officiated the tournament to the highest standards, and also to www.nigelohara.com who provided the trophies.
