NORTHERN Ireland U18’s manager Bob Ramsey has named an 18 man squad ahead of the upcoming friendly against Australia on Wednesday 25 January at Seaview, kick-off: 2pm.

This will be the squad’s first game of the new season.

“We are finally through the trialling process and have been assessing players for many months now both at their clubs and also when they came in to train with us,” said Ramsey.  “Now we are down to 18, Australia comes over every other year, so this season’s team is getting that bit of extra experience, I am sure the boys are looking forward to the game.

“For many it will be their first outing at international level so I hope they make the most of the opportunity ahead.  The last time they were over it was 1-1 at Seaview.

“After the Australia game we will take the squad to Jersey and Guernsey to play a game against each island before starting our Centenary Shield campaign starts.  

"Last year we shared the trophy with Scotland so hopefully this year we can go one better.  After the Australia game we are away in the first two games.  We then host England on 23 March at Windsor Park and then play Wales at Dungannon Swifts on 20 April live on Sky Sports.  Hopefully we can get a good crowd out to the games,” Ramsey added.
