U16'S UP FOR WALES TEST

Release Date: 16/11/2011

“IT'S ALL to play for in Wales” were the words of Northern Ireland Under 16 Manager Desi Curry just over one week ago as he savoured the fruits of victory after his team had defeated Scotland 2-1 at Ballymena.

That success put Northern Ireland back in the frame for a share of the Sky Sports Victory Shield.  “If we can defeat Wales on Wednesday night we would go level on points with England and the pressure would then be on them to win away to Scotland to lift the title outright. That would not be an easy task especially as Scotland Manager Ross Mathie, in his last match in charge of the Under 16s, will want to bow out on a high” said Curry.

“However, first we must do the job in Wales and I fully expect a tough game. The Welsh are always a tough proposition at home as they showed with a scoreless draw against the Scots. Definitely out is Sean Mullan, who was injured against Scotland, and his strength up front would have been useful as the Welsh are a big, physical side. However, this year we have players in every position who can score goals and I am confident that we can secure the victory we need if we can keep the Welsh at bay” added the Manager.

The match, which is being played in Porthmadog, kicks off at 7.35pm and is being televised live by Sky Sports TV.
