THE Northern Ireland senior women’s team will tonight take on Croatia in the final game in their World Cup qualifying campaign.
In the build up to last Saturday’s game away to Serbia and tomorrow night’s game, some of the squad have been keeping a players’ diary. Danielle McDowell brings us the latest news from the Northern Ireland team camp.
Tuesday 24 August: Breakfast 8.30am; pretty uneventful except for the two kiddies sleeping in!! Left for training at the home of football for training with the other gaffer Mr Worthington!
Short session with lots of possession and attacking patterns of play! Really enjoyable and great of Nigel to take time out to be with us, all the girls really appreciate it!
Back to the Dunadry for more ice baths.... Our favourite part of the trip! Lunch, then rest in our rooms for the afternoon!
Dinner at 7pm! One of the waitresses tried to catch Alfie out and as our standard punishment is a ‘£2 fine or a song’ Alfie tried to get his own back and make her sing, turns out she is a classically trained singer!! That backfired nicely!!
After dinner we had a presentation ceremony of caps to some players! The technical director came on behalf of the Irish FA, really nice evening. Lights out at 10.30pm - big sleep before our last game! All preparation done. fingers crossed we can turn the hard work into 3 points on Wednesday night!!
The game against Croatia at the Oval on Wednesday kicks-off at 7.45pm. Admission is £2 - so make sure you come along and support the Northern Ireland girls in the final game in their World Cup qualifying campaign.
