NIGEL MEETS YOUNG FANS

Release Date: 30/07/2010

Author: By Philip Murphy

INTERNATIONAL manager Nigel Worthington took some time out of his busy schedule recently to meet some junior Northern Ireland fans.

The event at the Irish FA’s Windsor Avenue headquarters gave the young fans the opportunity to ask questions, as well as get some things signed by the Northern Ireland boss as well as getting their photograph taken with him.

The fans showed their enthusiasm with some challenging questions on various subjects such as the upcoming qualifiers, the recent World Cup and the Northern Ireland manager’s playing days.  Nigel spoke fondly of his 66 caps for Northern Ireland and the honour of playing, captaining and now managing his country. The international boss also outlined his hopes for the long-awaited European Championship Qualifiers which commence in September with a trip to Slovenia.

As well as meeting the manager, the young fans also had the opportunity to meet Footie.  The cheerful mascot posed for photographs and kept the boys and girls entertained. The afternoon proved to be thoroughly enjoyable and one to remember for the young supporters.

NI Fans Junior (for supporters up to the age of 16) which replaces the Irish FA’s Junior Supporters Scheme, was officially launched last week by the Northern Ireland manager.  For more information on NI Fans Junior click here.
