THE third youth tournament organised by Playing for the Future and sponsored by Andrew Jonathan’s Hairdressers Portadown and John McStravick Painter & Decorator is set to take place this month.
The tournament will now have an even bigger turnout than before continuing the progression it has shown from the beginning. 16 teams are set to battle it out for four competitions including the Playing for the Future Cup, Shield, Plate and Rose Bowl. This year will see the tournament being held on 16 and 18 June.
With competition places snapped up very quickly it seems as though all the hard work over the past year has so far paid off for the group: “A lot of hard work has gone in behind the scenes to make sure that all of our activities and events are well organised and that we provide the best possible learning environment for the young players,” said event organiser Thomas McStravick. “We are always looking at ways to improve and to grow our services. The tournament is our favourite event as it always has a nice feel to it and it also was the first ever event organised by us back in January 2009.”
Playing for the Future would like to thank Andrew Jonathan’s Hairdressers Portadown and John McStravick Painter and Decorator for sponsoring this year’s event as well as another anonymous sponsor.
The teams confirmed are: Portadown Youth, Lurgan Town, Loughgall, St. Mary’s, St. Mary’s Select, Glenavon, Ards Youth, Warrenpoint Town, Dungannon United Youth, Castlewellen Town, Seagoe Youth, Armagh City, Armagh City Select, Lisburn Distillery, Lisburn Distillery Select and Solway Stars.
