ON March 5 FIFA referee Alan Black was the man in the middle for the 'A’ international friendly game between Wales and Sweden played in Swansea.

This appointment marked further progress for Alan as it was the first time he had taken charge of a full international match.

Assistant referees were Eamonn Shanks and John McDowell and a crowd of just under 10,000 turned out for the game which was also live on Sky Sports.

Speaking after the game Alan said: “Of course even though it was a friendly game the increase in pace was very noticeable but it was a great experience for us and the match provided great learning opportunities for the future.”
