NORTHERN Ireland defender Jonny Evans has been ruled out of Wednesday night’s game against Albania.

The 22-year-old suffered a knock to his knee during Manchester United’s Carling Cup win over Aston Villa at Wembley on Sunday.

Evans joined up with Nigel Worthington’s squad following the game and travelled to Tirana on Monday.  He was assessed by the Northern Ireland medical team yesterday and was re-assessed this morning after which it was decided that he should return to his club.

Evans is now on his way back to Manchester.
