'THE MAC' GO MARCHING ON

Release Date: 28/02/2010

HOLDERS Immaculata maintained their challenge for a third successive Coca-Cola Junior Cup title with a thumping 4-0 quarter-final defeat of Lisbellaw United at the weekend.

The Amateur League 2B leaders moved into a 25th minute lead courtesy of a Stephen Dines effort before man-of-the-match Danny Collins doubled their tally ten minutes after the break.

Then two goals in the final quarter-of-an-hour from Kevin Hughes and Padraig Adams sealed an ultimately comfortable victory for reigning champions.

'The Mac' were joined in the last four by Ballymena Saturday Morning League side Carniny Rangers who progressed following a 2-0 victory over Crumlin Rec. at Wakehurst.

Rangers gained the advantage midway through the first half when Roger Jones successfully converted from the spot.

They had to wait until seven minutes from time to put the seal on their victory when Leslie McCaughern scrambled the ball over the line after a Jones corner caused confusion in the Crumlin penalty area.
