The Irish Football Association can confirm that Glynn Snodin and Fred Barber have verbally accepted new contracts to continue as Northern Ireland assistant manager and goalkeeping coach respectively for the UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.
Glynn, who is currently a first team coach at Leeds United said: “I am delighted to be continuing in my role as Northern Ireland assistant manager for the Euro 2012 campaign. I became involved in the squad in June 2007 and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Nigel Worthington, his players and the other members ofthe backroom team and I’m really looking forward to the start of upcoming campaign.”
Fred, who is currently goalkeeping coach at Bolton Wanderers added: “I’m glad that the Association and I have reached an agreement and I can continue to work with the Northern Ireland senior team in the upcoming 2012 European campaign. There is always a great morale within the squad, and I am looking forward to working closely with the goalkeepers and the other coaches in what is going to be a very competitive qualifying group.”
Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington said: “I am delighted that Glynn and Fred have agreed new contracts and that the backroom staff will be as was. As I said before, these are exciting times for football in Northern Ireland – looking back over the World Cup campaign; the players as a unit performed very well and there were so many pleasing aspects as well for us to take out of it and I believe that as a team we can continue to move things forward, step up to the challenges which lie ahead and hopefully have a good campaign.”
