SCOTLAND WIN UNDER 15 SCHOOL GIRLS TOURNAMENT

THE Scotland U15 School Girls picked up the Bob Docherty Tournament trophy today after beating Wales 2-1 in their final game.

The International Friendly Tournament at the Billy Neill Complex in Dundonald kicked-off on Tuesday with U15 School Girls teams from Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Republic of Ireland taking part.

In Thursday’s other game the Northern Ireland girls were unlucky to lose 2-1 to their Republic of Ireland counterparts.

On Wednesday evening all the teams attended the tournament’s official function which was hosted by Castlereagh Borough Council.  Everyone was welcomed to the council’s headquarters by Deputy Mayor Alderman Jim White. 

The Deputy Mayor presented each of the team captains with a Commemorative George Best Medal and a gift on behalf of the Council.  The teams also presented gifts to the council and to each other; while a presentation was made to the tournament referees on behalf of the Irish FA by National Women’s Coach Alfie Wylie.
