COLIN Murray will be in Belfast this weekend to host the Irish FA’s Football For All Awards night.
The event which is designed to shine the spotlight on the unsung heroes, key change drivers and volunteers who promote the Football For All ethos throughout all strands of Northern Ireland football, will take place in the Ramada Hotel on Saturday June 21. The Inaugural FFA Awards Night in 2007 was a great success, but this year’s event looks set to be even bigger and better!
“I can’t wait to host my second Football For All Awards night,” said Colin, who is the IFA’s FFA Ambassador. “Last year was a great success but this year will be bigger and better. The Football For All Unsung Heroes Awards 2008 celebrates and rewards the most important people involved in football - the fans and volunteers.”
Michael Boyd, the IFA’s Head of Community Relations added: “The FFA Awards Night is designed to reward the unsung heroes and volunteers who are the lifeblood of football in Northern Ireland. It recognises the members of the football family in Northern Ireland who have made a positive stand against sectarianism, promoting the game in the right light; the volunteers who work non stop to promote grassroots, women’s and disability football and those behind the scenes who usually don’t get the praise they deserve.”
The FFA Awards Night is also part of the BASE project (Business and Sporting Enterprise) funded by Invest NI, Renewing Communities and YENI (Young Enterprise NI), with YENI being the main sponsor of the awards night. The keynote speaker will be former Ireland rugby international, Trevor Ringland and at the event many of the young people involved in the BASE project will be presented with their certificates.
Sponsorship has also been received from Podium 4 Sport, Daily Mirror and the Sports Council.
