Alfie Wylie has named an 18-player squad who will line up to face England in what will be the biggest game in the history of women’s football within Northern Ireland in the past 20 years.

Northern Ireland women's team will play the World Cup Finalists in a UEFA Championship Qualifier at Mourneview Park, Lurgan next Thursday (06 March) - kicking off at 7.30pm.

The squad, captained for the first time by Kelly Bailie (Glentoran Belfast United), meets up on Monday afternoon to prepare for the much anticipated game.

Alfie spoke of the hard job he had selecting players, "The squad selection proved to be a difficult task as the competition for places was very high, which was extremely encouraging. In no way was naming the 18 players easy and there was a lot of quality girls vying for a place. There'll be some players who will ultimately be disappointed not to be picked but a manager must place emphasis on fitness and match sharpness."

"We will hopefully start the match with a full strength squad with the exception of Stacey Hall and Tierna McKenna both of whom picked up injuries so neither girls were available for selection. Experienced player Stacey aggravated a knee injury during the recent Spain v NI match whilst Tierna damaged her ligaments at a training session last Sunday. It is a game we are very much looking forward to and one which will hopefully enhance the image and reputation of women's and girls football within Northern Ireland," he added.
