KEITH Gibson, IFA Grassroots Development Officer for Craigavon recently facilitated a Grassroots Leaders Award in Cathedral Road, Armagh.

This was for coaches from Armagh City Council, Belvoir Football Club and Riversdale Football Club from Benburb.

"I was approached by the secretary of Riverdale Football Club to run a course for their coaches as they are planning to introduce junior sections very shortly,” explained Keith.  “We were delighted to put this night together as we are always looking to help clubs set up more opportunities for young players to develop a love for the game."

The night was good fun, despite the inclement weather for the practical parts.  All participants really got involved in both practical and theory sessions.

Participants learnt about developing grassroots football, practical games for young footballers, what mini soccer involves, health and safety, child protection as well as discussing topics relevant to their role as grassroots coaches.
