Striker aims to impress in final games before Championships begin on 8 August

Women's Under 19 striker Morganne Beggs is looking to prove her worth ahead of the UEFA Women's Under 19 Championships which begin on 8 August.

The Crusaders Strikers player is back playing after being forced off injured in the first game of their double header against Slovakia in June. Now she'll be aiming to use the upcoming double header against Wales, starting on Saturday 22 July, to be selected in the Northern Ireland squad for the Championships next month.

Beggs is glad to be back knowing she will need to earn her spot for the Championships like everyone else, she said: "Slovakia was my first match back after tearing my hamstring and it was giving me some bother through the camp so didn't want to risk it.

"I'm glad to be back because I want to show i'm fit and I do want to get picked and also show how much it means to me."

The Wales double header takes place at the Ballymena Showgrounds ending on Monday 24 July and Beggs is ready for a tough challenge: "It'll be a good test coming into the finals because they are a home nation and they'll be some rivalry there so it will be good practice."
