Wales U17 Women 1 Northern Ireland 1

Northern Ireland U17 Women played Wales at the Centre of Excellence, Ystrad Mynach, today in what was the second of two international challenge matches in three days.

It was a game of few chances but interesting battles all over the pitch.

Casey Howe came close to giving Northern Ireland the lead but watched her effort creep inches past the post.

Wales then went in front in spectacular fashion on 19 minutes with a left-foot half volley from Lucy Attwood that rocketed past Northern Ireland goalkeeper Lauren Perry.

The second half saw Northern Ireland press forward and they enjoyed long periods of possession in the home team’s half.

Northern Ireland then equalized in fine fashion on 54 minutes as Emily Wilson picked up a loose ball and curled it home from 25 yards.

As the clock ticked down both teams had chances to sneak a winner but the match ended 1-1.
