Nigel Worthington appointed Fred Barber as his goalkeeping coach when he took over the Northern Ireland job on 1 June 2007.

In January 2008 Worthington agreed a new two year contract and Barber was reappointed to the Northern Ireland set-up.

He is currently goalkeeping coach at Bolton Wanderers.
