GIRLS BEAT REPUBLIC OF IRELAND TO WIN TOURNAMENT

Release Date: 14/04/2011

The Northern Ireland Schoolgirls’ team have won the U15 Bob Doherty International Tournament in Cardiff after beating the Republic of Ireland 3-1 today.

Goals from Caitlin McKane (pen), Chloe McGlade and Amy Macken secured the win that ensured the U15 team finished the tournament with a 100% record after recording 2-0 wins against Scotland and Wales earlier in the week.

Alfie Wylie, National Women’s Coach, said: “The girls have been absolutely brilliant this week and to have a 100% record is no more than they deserve.  I must give praise to Noel Mitchell and his staff for all of their hard work.  Credit must also go to the Regional Coaches at the Stenaline Centres of Excellence who have worked week in week out for a number of years now and we are now reaping the benefits of this.”
