Ballymena International Tournament at Ballymena Showgrounds
Northern Ireland

Ramsey, McCormick (4), Faulkner

6-0 Finland

NORTHERN Ireland powered their way to the top of Group A in the latest edition of the Ballymena International Tournament thanks to an opening night annihilation of Finland at The Showgrounds.

Chris Ramsey opened the scoring for Dessie Curry's side after six minutes when he scrambled home a Willie Faulkner free-kick.

However after that it turned into the Dean McCormick show. The Glastry College pupil banged home no fewer than four second half goals with the first coming just a couple of minutes after the interval from an Andy King cross.

Number two followed soon after when he was quickest to react to an abortive effort that came back off Finnish keeper Ilari Ruuth with his hat-trick goal arriving within minutes.

Later in the half McCormick pounced again after Ruuth fumbled the ball before Faulkner completed the rout with a header from a Ramsey free-kick.
