THE Irish FA in partnership with Toyota (GB), run a programme of referee beginners’ classes.
The classes allow anyone interested in becoming a referee in youth or junior football the chance to qualify as a referee.
"There are tremendous opportunities to progress as a referee through the ranks now with support from local referee societies, referee instructors and assessors", states Alan Snoddy IFA Referee Development Officer.
"Young talent is identified quickly, with a mentor structure in place to ensure the new recruit is supported in the early period of his or her career”.
With the severe shortage of officials in junior football there are opportunities throughout Northern Ireland.
