KIDS GO NUTTY IN CASTLEREAGH

Release Date: 01/09/2010

THE second of Castlereagh’s Irish FA Nutty Krust Summer Soccer Schools took place recently at Billy Neill Centre of Excellence on the Comber Road.

Over 25 boys and girls took part in the coaching sessions, daily skills challenges and mini soccer matches.  The week was organised by Castlereagh’s Grassroots Development Officer Phil Melville.  "We have had a great three days at Billy Neill despite the occasional wet weather; all the children have really enjoyed the sessions," he said.

"The Irish FA Nutty Krust Summer Soccer Schools are a super way for all children regardless of ability to further develop their skills.  It has been encouraging to see the children improve throughout the week and I hope that new friendships have been made."

Phil added: “A big thank you must go to my team of Irish FA qualified coaches who worked so hard throughout the week.  The team’s enthusiasm and commitment has been amazing, in each session they have challenged every child to reach their full potential as well as making it enjoyable and great credit must go to them.”

During the week the children took part in daily skills challenges, various coaching topics and small sided games. At the end of the week each child received an IFA/UMBRO ball and wallet along with a Nutty Krust goodie bag.

Speaking about the week’s activities, Phil said: “These Summer Soccer Schools provide children with a positive way to spend their free time over the summer holidays.  It is fantastic to see young people from Castlereagh being physically active, they seem to have had a really enjoyable week and have learnt a lot.”
