IRISH FA / MCDONALD'S COACH MENTORING PROGRAMME

Release Date: 14/12/2011

Moria FC are one of the latest clubs to take part in the Irish FA / McDonald's Coach Mentoring programme.

The aim of the programme is to support the development of club coaches within the McDonald’s Small-Sided Games Development Centres.

The Irish FA Grassroots Development Officers will deliver this nationwide Coach Mentoring programme.

Coach mentoring is a ‘powerful tool’ in the education and development of football coaches at all levels.

The Coach Mentoring Programme will:
 support the induction and empowerment of the novice coach
 help improve coaching confidence levels and coaching effectiveness
 assist the coach to recognise and maximise their learning opportunities
 assist the more experienced coach through the development of a deeper understanding of their roles and responsibilities.

Moria FC started in October 2009 with 10 kids (boys and girls) and now have over 75 players aged six to 10.

They filled a gap in a large village so that kids don't have to travel to Lurgan or Lisburn to play football.

The club is connected to St John's Parish Church, Church of Ireland and the Logic Cafe Youth Centre.
Moria have a dedicated team of 10 coaches working with the boys and girls and great support from parents - with some parents and even a grandparent involved in coaching.
