COACHES BOOST FOR DISABILITY FOOTBALL IN NORTHERN IRELAND
OVER 600 children with disabilities throughout Northern Ireland are set to benefit from a new Coach Education partnership involving the IFA Disability Football Department and McDonald’s.
The IFA, with the support of McDonald’s, has put 10 budding coaches through the IFA C certificate.
As part of their training, the Coaches have also taken the Association’s Coaching Disabled Footballers Award.
Over the remainder of the school year, the 10 regionally based coaches will get to work throughout the Special Schools in Northern Ireland, delivering six one hour coaching sessions that cover the basic fundamentals of football.
IFA Development Manager for Disability Football, Alan Crooks, is sure the impact will be immense: “Having 10 qualified coaches working solely in the area of Disability Football will have a huge impact upon participation numbers.
"The sessions will hopefully give the players a fun introduction to football and the desire to continue their involvement in football for many years to come.”
