Reporting Guidelines

Reporting Guidelines that are communicated to all involved intheclub/centre

It is important to have policies and procedures in place to facilitate staff, coaches and volunteers in reporting safeguarding concerns or disclosures should the need arise.

It is your club’s/centre’s responsibility to identify and refer any safeguarding concerns.  It is not your responsibility to investigate possible instances of abuse of children/young people; this is the role of the statutory agencies – Health and Social Care Trusts and PSNI.

It is important that your club/centre has procedures in place for dealing with safeguarding concerns, disclosures or allegations in order to support staff, coaches, volunteers, children/young people and parents/guardians through the process of reporting a disclosure or allegation.

As well as reporting allegations to appropriate authorities, you should follow your own club’s/centre’s internal disciplinary procedures and refer to the Independent Safeguarding Authority barred list (if appropriate, for further information visit www.isa-gov.org.uk) whether or not a criminal investigation proceeds.

Remember- it is a statutory responsibility to report any safeguarding concerns.
