Effective Management of Staff, Coaches and Volunteers
Good management of staff, coaches and volunteers will contribute to a safe environment for children and young people. Good management will also create an atmosphere where staff, coaches and volunteers feel valued, are listened to and where issues can be dealt with quickly by systems already in place.
Once staff, coaches and volunteers are recruited, they should be informed about your club’s/centre’s policies, procedures and guidelines and be provided with appropriate training, support and supervision. This will minimise unintentional harm of children and young people through lack of knowledge or skills and should pick up on possible intentional harm of children/young people.
