COCA-COLA WOMEN'S CUP

Release Date: 17/08/2010

GLENTORAN Belfast United secured their place in the Coca-Cola Women’s Cup final on Monday with a comprehensive win over Newbridge Predators at Clandeboye Park.

The girls from Glentoran BU started the game at a high tempo with Laura Hislop putting the ball in the back of the net with only 90 seconds on the clock, and the pressure didn’t let up for Predators ‘keeper Kim Deraedt for the remainder of the game.

Glentoran BU’s Kelly Bailie doubled the score in the 14th minute from a free kick, and they went 3-0 up when Catherine O Hagan scored from a cross by Demi Vance on the half-hour mark.  O’Hagan completed her hat-trick with two more goals before half time to send GBU into the break with a five goal lead.

The Predators started the second half much better playing some good football, but not managing to break down the GBU defence.

Glentoran BU finished off the game with further goals by Rebecca Craig and another for player of the match Catherin O’Hagan to make the final score 7-0.

Glentoran Belfast United will now meet Crusaders Newtownabbey Strikers in the final after they defeated Dromore Amateurs 5-0 in the other semi-final.
