PLAYER OF THE MATCH

Release Date: 20/07/2010

CRUSADERS Newtownabbey Strikers’ Danielle McDowell was named the Player of the Match in the Tie of the Quarter Final in the Coca-Cola Women’s Cup.

The game was only two minutes old when Linfield Ladies’ Kirsty McGuinness opened the scoring with a well taken individual goal, before following it up a second on 15 minutes.

The match settled down on the half hour when Crusaders Newtownabbey Strikers’ Lisa Armour pulled one back, with Danielle McDonnell bringing the game level on 33 minutes.  Then with only three minutes until the half-time whistle Terri Harper scored a third for the Strikers.

The second half was an end to end event with both sides having chances but neither were able to turn them into goals.

Final score: Crusaders Newtownabbey Strikers 3-2 Linfield Ladies.

Crusaders Newtownabbey Strikers, join Dromore Amateurs Ladies, Glentoran Belfast United and Newbridge Predators in tonight’s semi-final draw.
