Soccer Strategy
As part of the Irish FA’s ongoing efforts to support its member clubs, work has been underway over the past number of months to improve facilities at clubs grounds via the Soccer Strategy Facilities Programme.
The Association has also been working closely with Sport NI in the roll-out of this programme and work has now been completed at a number of venues. This funding has allowed clubs to meet IFA Premiership, IFA Championship, and UEFA infrastructure requirements. This includes spectator accommodation, players and officials changing accommodation and media facilities.
A total of 26 applications were received by the Association when the programme opened in August 2007 and the Club Licensing and Facilities Department together with Sport NI assessed all clubs submissions resulting in twenty-three clubs being offered funding in May 2008.
During the course of the programme, funding thresholds were increased meaning the maximum award for UEFA venues was £345,000, Irish Premier League was £230,000 and Premier Intermediate League was £86,200.
All applicants were required to contribute 15% of the total project cost from their own or another partners resources.
Construction has been on-going throughout 2009 and the early part of 2010 and a number of projects are now complete.
A number of clubs have availed of funding up to £86,000 to meet the IFA Championship ground requirements. These include Annagh Utd FC, Ballinamallard Utd FC, Portstewart FC, H&W Welders FC, Sport & Leisure Swifts FC and Moyola Park FC.
