Soccer Strategy – Facilities Element
Sport Northern Ireland (SNI) is managing the roll-out of this funding programme to develop football stadiums to UEFA, Irish Premier League (IPL) and Premier Intermediate League (PIL) level.
A total of 26 applications were received when the programme opened in August 2007 and the Club Licensing and Facilities Department together with Sport NI assessed all clubs submissions. This was completed by December 2007.
Final approvals for funding were made in April 2008 with Provisional Letters of Offer issued BY Sport NI shortly thereafter. A total of 23 clubs were successful in being offered funding.
Funding thresholds:
- UEFA awards are a maximum of £300,000
- IFA Premiership awards are a maximum of £200,000
- IFA Championship awards are a maximum of £75,000
Applicants must contribute a proportion of the project costs from their own or another partners' resources. The maximum percentage award available is 85%, therefore minimum partnership funding of 15% is required.
The Club Licensing and Facilities Department has continued to liaise with clubs during this period and to date two clubs have been issued with permission to proceed on site with their improvement projects.
